Why Use Eyelash Extension Primer: Does It Really Matter?
Lash primer cleans and preps natural lashes for stronger adhesion and longer-lasting extensions.
UV lash extensions are becoming increasingly popular because they offer faster curing, stronger bonds, and improved retention compared with traditional lash adhesives.
Traditional lash glue cures through moisture in the air, meaning curing speed can be affected by room temperature and humidity. Full curing may take up to 24 hours, which can sometimes lead to issues such as irritation or lashes sticking together during application.
UV curing works differently. The UV light activates special UV lash adhesives through a photochemical reaction, allowing the glue to harden almost instantly. This helps create a stable bond and reduces problems caused by incomplete curing.
UV stands for ultraviolet radiation, a type of electromagnetic radiation beyond visible light. In UV lash extensions, UV light activates photoinitiators inside the adhesive, triggering the curing process.

UV lash lamps used for eyelash extensions produce much less UV radiation than sources like sunlight or tanning beds. However, because the light is used repeatedly at close range around sensitive eye areas, proper safety practices are essential.

Make sure the client’s eyes stay completely closed throughout the procedure.
Keep the lamp at the recommended distance (usually around 20 cm). Avoid placing it closer than 15–20 cm, as UV exposure increases significantly with shorter distances.
Use lash tape or gel patches to protect the skin around the eyes. Dark, matte materials can also help reduce unwanted reflections.
Always check that the client feels comfortable and does not experience heat or light exposure inside the eye area.
