Lash tweezers are one of the most essential tools for lash artists, so keeping them clean and well-maintained is extremely important. Since damaged or poorly sanitized tweezers can affect both performance and hygiene, proper care helps protect not only your tools but also your clients.

  • Use Tweezers Only for Their Intended Purpose

Your tweezers should only be used for lash application. Avoid using them to peel lashes from strips, unclog adhesive bottles, or handle unrelated tools and materials. Using tweezers incorrectly can damage the tips and reduce their precision over time.

  • Remove Glue and Residue from the Tips

After each appointment, inspect the tweezer tips carefully for adhesive buildup or debris. Any remaining glue can be cleaned off with acetone or a lash glue remover. Tweezer Cleaner works well for gently wiping the tips clean.

  • Properly Clean and Disinfect Your Tweezers

Start by washing your tweezers with antibacterial soap, then rinse and dry them thoroughly. After cleaning, place them in a disinfecting solution such as Barbicide for at least 10 minutes, ensuring the tweezers are fully submerged.

However, avoid leaving them in liquid sanitizer for too long, as excessive soaking may damage the metal surface. Once disinfected, rinse away any remaining solution carefully.

For additional sanitation, ultraviolet sterilizers can be used for around 10 minutes, while heat sterilizers typically sanitize tools within 3–5 minutes.

  • Store Tweezers Safely

After cleaning and sanitizing, protect your tweezers by placing the tip cover back on before storage. Proper storage helps prevent bent tips and keeps the tweezers clean between appointments.

A dedicated tweezer case is highly recommended, especially hard plastic cases that can be cleaned easily. In some regions, leather storage pouches may not meet sanitation requirements because they cannot be disinfected thoroughly.

Keeping your tweezers clean, protected, and properly stored will help maintain their precision and extend their lifespan, while also ensuring a safer experience for every client.
